“The creative process is a process of surrender, not control”
– Julia Cameron
It has been a full and intense few months. Amidst the incredible high of reaching our crowdfund target, we have also been submerged in the creative and logistical matrix of trying to finish the film, and planning the tour.
Tour and release date postponed
After deep consideration, and somewhat painful deliberation, we have decided to postpone the tour and release until 2016.
In truth, we were on the edge of burn out. A process which is supposed to put fire in our bellies and love in our hearts, had become an all-consuming somewhat frantic scrabble up a Saharan sand dune…
Under the caring wing of a dear friend, we were humbled, when we took a step back, and realised that in order for the rivers of creativity to flow once more, we needed to create space, not only for the project to breathe again, but also for us as a family, and for our personal wellbeing.
The good news is that we are falling in love again, with the project (and each other!!), and the editing process is moving with fluidity.
It feels like the right choice, but we also understand that it means changing our original plans, and we hope that you will support our decision.
What about the crowdfund campaign?
£5489.47 was the total amount raised through We The Trees. In terms of the money raised, we want to remain completely transparent, and nothing has changed with regard to the costings or our plans to take the film on tour, and to honour the rewards pledged to each of you who made a contribution.
On the up side, we will have more time to plan the tour, and we will be able to tour for longer, as we will start in May. We are still open to requests for screenings, so please do get in touch if you would like us to include your community in the 2016 UK tour.
Pop-up cinema space

Shortly after the funds came through, we bought the pop-up cinema structure. We had planned to build something from scratch, but when it came up, we had to go for it – is a fantastic space – 6mx8m longx3m high – its really sturdy and hardwearing, and was an absolute steal for £1000. Last week, we were working with a welder and a maker to help with creating a unique entrance.

It felt great to see something so tangible, and to imagine the space alive with people. We truly hope that it will become a place of sharing and possibility.
We will stay in touch, and keep you updated on our news.
As always, if you have any other suggestions or ideas on how you could help us, please get in touch.
Thank you a thousand times to each of you who has signed up. It puts fire in our belly, and love in our hearts to know that you are out there…
With love and gratitude,
Lily and Pete xx
